Badass Wombles caused a sensation when it was released, catapulting our client PACT into the national media. It featured on the BBC News TV channel for an entire day and was written up in the Times and other national newspapers including a full page run through in London's Metro.
PACT, the Producers Alliance, were lobbying the UK Government to help create more children's TV by offering tax breaks for programme makers. They had some staggering statistics but faced an uphill challenge in inspiring the public to sign their petition.
We decided that the UK's rich heritage in children's TV making would be perfect to help remind the public just what an important part of young people's live kids' TV can be. The wombles proved a perfect fit. Dubbing the Badass Wombles into American aphorisms struck a chord with the public and with Bernard Cribbens who came out of womble retirement to voice Uncle Bulgaria one more time. Within days PACT's online petition had met it's mark and much more. The government acted and the tax breaks enshrined.
